Los Angeles Angels Infuriate Blogger by Honoring Derek Jeter for 3,000 Hit

Anaheim isn't known for the same level of fan rage as places like Philadelphia, Vancouver and, occasionally, Boston. (Be honest with yourself and admit we get a little carried away sometimes, too.)

The move by Los Angeles Angels management to honor Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter before the teams played Friday has some Angels fans hopping mad, however. Angels manager Mike Scioscia and right fielder Torii Hunter presented Jeter witha painting of his 3,000th hit. There was no on-field ceremony, the Los Angeles Times reports, but the trio was pictured on the video board at Angel Stadium.

That had folks at Halos Heaven, an Angels-dedicated blog, seething.

"Management's consistent patronage of terrible painting and [Angels President John] Carpino's actual preference of the Yankees remained intact while in the dark as to the proceedings was every last Angels fan who only knows Jeter as the homonculus enemy of everything West Coast culture and and style stand for, let alone a despised opponent," writes a blogger with the handle Rev Halofan.

Now to find a dictionary and look up "homonculus" …
