For many fans who had watched the last 39 seasons expire without a Stanley Cup for the Bruins, a championship was the farthest thing from their minds in 2010-11. For at least one member of the Stanley Cup champion Bruins, however, the title felt inevitable.
Shawn Thornton chatted with Jack Edwards and Naoko Funayama at the WEEI-NESN Jimmy Fund Radio Telethon, where he compared winning Cups with the Anaheim Ducks and the Bruins. Whereas the Ducks' title was "more of a surprise," as it was Thornton's first full season in the NHL, Thornton said he felt more a part of this year's Bruins team and at times he "felt [the victory] coming."
