Jordan Henderson isn’t one for the nightlife. He prefers relaxing at home after working hard all day to master his craft, according to LiverpoolFC.TV.
“I haven’t really been out [in Liverpool] yet, the nightlife, so I haven’t seen that side of it,” he said. “There is a right place and time to go out with your friends of a night. It’s important to do that as a team to bond, but I just tend to relax and watch telly most of the time. “
Henderson often sticks around Liverpool’s Melwood training ground for after-practice work on individual aspects of his game. Lately he’s been trying to improve his finishing, as he looks to add to the one goal he’s scored this season (the first in LFC’s 3-1 win over Bolton on Aug. 27).
“Finishing and goalscoring is a big part of football so I’ve been trying to work on that for quite a lot of months now,” he said. “Even when I was at Sunderland I was doing that.
“I can’t get too focused on that, I need to concentrate on other parts of my game that I need to improve on, but goalscoring and getting in certain positions is definitely one thing I need to get better at.”
The 21-year-old midfielder joined Liverpool from Sunderland over the summer in a £16 million ($25.3 million) transfer. He’s made ten appearances for the Reds, including six consecutive league starts to begin his Anfield career.
Manager Kenny Dalglish has used the midfielder on the right and in the middle. He’s still searching for the ideal position to play the England U-21 captain, but he has no doubts that Henderson will be a big part of the club’s future.
“I don’t know his best position yet, but I know his best club and that’s this one,” said Dalglish. “We just want him to play and enjoy playing. He’s a talented footballer with a great future in front of him. We are just delighted he chose to come here.”
