Emerson College might not have a football team, but it has one heck of a social media marketing program. So good, in fact, that it's caught the attention of Patriots wide receiver and Twitter guru Chad Ochocinco.
Ochocinco has agreed to be a guest lecturer at the school after social media marketing professor David Gerzof Richard asked his class to try to catch the attention of the Patriots wideout via Twitter. The class tweeted Ochocinco invitations to guest teach with the hashtag #ProfOchoCinco, the Boston Herald reports.
Despite the massive amount of tweets he receives each day — he has nearly three million followers — Ochocinco noticed the invitations and responded to the Emerson professor, who is also the founder of BIGFish Communications.
"@davidgerzof David I just saw ur message?I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do so but I'd be honored to share my ideas n thoughts with ur class," Ochocinco tweeted.
When Gerzof Richard asked who the college has to check in with, Ochocinco responded, "Ask the #Hoodie boss," an obvious reference to head coach Bill Belichick.
The goal of the assignment was apparently to try to get the wide receiver's attention. According to the Boston Herald, Gerzof Richard had his class target Shaquille O'Neal last semester, but it was unable to get the attention of the Celtics center.
The class reportedly is hoping to land Ochocinco by December, and in the spring, Gerzof Richard plans to have his class target a "Twitter-savvy" Red Sox player.
