Jonas Hiller’s ‘Movember’ Goalie Mask Combines Power of Mustache, Creativity of High School Yearbook Prank (Photo)

It's getting tough to keep up with all these cool goalie masks.

First, Jason LaBarbera's tribute to Pat Tillman set the bar. Then, Peter Budaj and Roberto Luongo joined in on the fun with cool masks of their own. Now, it's Anaheim Ducks netminder Jonas Hiller's "Movember" mask that takes center stage.

Movember, which promotes men's health by encouraging men to grow mustaches during November, has gained some popularity among NHL players over the years, as noted by The Goalie Guild (with a stick tap to SportsGrid). This year, it's inspired Hiller to debut a mask featuring yearbook-style photos of teammates with elaborate mustaches added after the fact — as if someone drew them on.

"Hiller came up with the Movember idea himself," said the mask's creator, Alec Voggel.

The tricky part was apparently making sure that it looked like the mustaches were added after the fact.

"It must be visible that the moustaches are painted with an edding that people can see is added afterwards," Voggel explained to The Goalie Guild site. "Just like the guys growing their own mustaches."
