Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson captained his team and scored the winner in England U-21’s 2-1 win over Norway on Monday. The 21-year-old fired home a cross from Everton’s Ross Barkley for England’s second goal just six minutes into the contest.

The win continues England’s 100% record in Euro 2013 qualifying, making it odds-on favorites to participate in its fourth consecutive finals.

Henderson led the Liverpool contingent going the full 90 minutes. On-loan midfielder Jonjo Shelvey played the final ten minutes and defender Jon Flanagan played the last 20.

Henderson has enjoyed a bright start to his Liverpool career. He has appeared in eight games for the Reds since his £20 million ($30.8 million) transfer from Sunderland in June. He has scored once for the Reds.

His place in the Liverpool starting 11 is under serious threat with captain Steve Gerrard expected to return to the lineup.

Playing well for his country will go a long way towards keeping Henderson fit and confident when Kenny Dalglish calls on him.
