Liverpool forward Luis Suarez has been subjected to whispered criticism recently because he failed to score in consecutive games. His two-goal outburst in Wednesday’s win over Stoke City will silence it for now.
With Liverpool trailing Stoke City in the second half of their Carling Cup meeting, Suarez scored a goal that people will be talking about for some time.
In the 54th minute, he controlled a cross-field pass with ease. He then took one touch, before creating space by slipping the ball through the legs of defender Ryan Shotton (we call that a “nutmeg” in America).
His skill in curling the ball around goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has the world buzzing. The goal –- his sixth of the season –- is worth watching again and again. He would go on to score the winner late in the game.
