Henry said that the ongoing chaos surrounding the Sox is more external than internal and that he didn't see players not trying to win games down the stretch. He also said that it broke his heart to see the Sox fall apart at the end of the season.
But some of Henry's comments were a bit more surprising.
As the Red Sox and Cubs reportedly continue to negotiate what the Sox will receive as compensation for Theo Epstein joining Chicago's front office, Henry noted that he's not looking forward to Epstein leaving.
"I would have loved for Theo Epstein to be our GM for the next 20 years. … I did everything I could personally to make that happen."
Terry Francona's departure was another issue that Henry discussed on the radio show. He denied the alleged smear campaign that's gone on since Francona's departure, calling him arguably the best manager the Red Sox have ever had.
Henry also disagreed with the perception that Francona was fired. He said that Francona instead chose to leave, but he also said that his option would not have been picked up if he expressed a desire to stay.
As far as some of the allegations about what went on in the Sox clubhouse during games, Henry said that he was unaware of what went on.
Henry also said that the Sox had a reason to whine because they were worn out, and he made it clear that he was opposed to signing Carl Crawford to a monster deal last offseason.
