Bobby Valentine Not Necessarily Current Front-Runner for Red Sox Job, But He Brings Plenty to Table


In the matter of just a couple of days, Bobby Valentine went from an ESPN color commentator, to a potential favorite for the vacant Red Sox managerial job.

Hall of Famer Peter Gammons spoke on NESN Daily on Friday about Valentine's credentials and his chance at getting the job, and while Gammons acknowledged that Valentine could be a good fit, he did stress that Valentine isn't necessarily the favorite at this point.

Gammons also spoke that any talk of a perceived rift or disconnect between general manager Ben Cherington and president/CEO Larry Lucchino over the managerial search is simply not true.
