Will Tyler Seguin Match Steven Stamkos’ 51 Goals in His Second Season?

Up for a quick math lesson, B’s fans?

Tyler Seguin currently has 11 goals in just 16 games. A full NHL season has 82 games. Carry the one, divide by pi, grab a calculator and pretty soon you realize that Seguin is currently on pace for a little over 56 goals.

He’s already matched his goal total from last season, but how much better can Seguin get? He’s looked like a superstar at times, forcing fans to hold their breath in anticipation of what might come next when he threads through defenseman and flies up the wing.

Before the season, some wondered if Seguin might have a similar jump in scoring that Steven Stamkos did in between his rookie season and his sophomore year. While only scoring a modest 23 goals as a baby-faced 18-year-old rookie, Stamkos exploded for 51-44-95 totals the next year and is a likely comparison for Seguin’s potential breakout season.

Seguin is currently the same age that Stamkos was when he tallied his 51, begging the question: does Seguin have it in him to match the Lightning center’s goal-scoring feat?
