Major League Baseball could be adding a second wild card team to each league as soon as 2012, which will have serious implications for the Red Sox and the rest of baseball's contenders.
NESN.com's Didier Morais explains what the two extra wild card teams will mean for baseball, and why it's a good move. With an additional wild card in each league, MLB would then have a one-game playoff in each league at the end of the season, which will only heighten the intensity of baseball down the stretch.
We all saw how dramatic the last day of the season was last year. Well, with wild card expansion, expect more of the same.
