Chargers head coach Norv Turner and general manager A.J. Smith will be back next season, according to the the team.
After finishing a disappointing 8-8 and missing the playoffs for the second straight year, there was a lot of speculation that Turner and Smith were both on the chopping block. The team apparently felt differently, despite the decrease in the team's win total each of the last three seasons.
"Bottom line, I believe these two men give us the best chance to get back to the playoffs," said team president Dean Spanos.
"We all have our quirks and faults," Spanos continued, "but I want A.J. and Norv on my side. They are the right men to help us win a championship."
Turner's career record of 107-113, his notoriously slow starts every season and his poor clock management skills suggest otherwise, but hey, to each his own.
