It does not matter what the young quarterback does because whether you love or hate Tim Tebow, he is America's most-loved athlete on ESPN.

Tebow has ascended to the top of the monthly ESPN poll, becoming just the sixth athlete to hold the top spot since 2007.

"What's that tell me?" Tebow said Thursday. "It tells me they have a lot of crazy polls out there. I hope people see I'm real and genuine. I hope they see that I make a ton of mistakes but that I always get back up and try again."

The Broncos' second-year man finished just ahead of Kobe Bryant, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning for the honor. Tebow will have to deal with Brady in a do-or-die battle at Gillette Stadium this Saturday night.

Tebow is just one those athletes who it is hard to vote against, even when it comes to facing the beloved Patriots in a much-needed win for the team, as they have yet to win a playoff game since 2007.
