Joe Maddon’s Comments Regarding Bobby Valentine’s Alcohol Ban Show Red Sox-Rays Rivalry Heating Up (Video)

There's been some backlash following the news that Bobby Valentine is banning alcohol from the Red Sox clubhouse. But none of it is from the people who it impacts most.

Rather than Valentine's players speaking out against the ban, it's those from the outside looking in, including former Sox skipper Terry Francona and Rays manager Joe Maddon.

Francona called the ban a "PR move," while Maddon noted he wouldn't be banning beer from the Tampa Bay clubhouse, saying, "We're not the Boston Red Sox."

Francona is now an ESPN analyst, so his take is somewhat understandable. But Maddon's may have been more of a jab at the Sox than anything.

This is the latest instance that the AL East is no longer a two-horse race, as the Rays are a force to be reckoned with, and a team that is looking to stand and trade punches with the Sox and Yankees again in 2012.

Check out the video above for more on the whole situation.
