Legal issues may be standing in Vicente Padilla‘s way before spring training.

According to Nicaraguan newspaper La Prensa, an arrest warrant was issued to Padilla after he failed to attend court for a child support hearing. The warrant was ultimately revoked, but Padilla may not be allowed to leave Nicaragua before settling the issue.

It could delay the veteran hurler from attending spring training on time. But a source told WEEI.com that Padilla is expected to return on time

The Red Sox signed Padilla last month to a minor league deal to compete for a spot in the starting rotation. If his starting aspirations don’t come to fruition, Padilla could be an option in the bullpen.
