=When Bryce Brentz was selected 36th overall by the Red Sox back in 2010, the power-hitting outfielder just wanted to make it to the big leagues.

Almost two years later, the 23-year-old has taken advantage of his proximity to the big leaguers — especially fellow slugger Big Papi.

Brentz, who combined to hit .306 and total 30 home runs between stops in Salem and Greenville in 2011, has been working on his mechanics and continuing to develop his skills in hopes of getting the call to the big leagues soon enough.
