Demba Ba, Wayne Rooney and Jack Wilshere Hail Lionel Messi After Five-Goal Explosion

Soccer stars from around the world had something to say about Lionel Messi. The world’s best player scored five goals for Barcelona in its 7-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday.

It was more than the record-breaking number of goals that impressed onlookers worldwide. It was the quality, variety and setting that was most astonishing.

Messi’s feats took place at highest level of club soccer in the world — the UEFA Champions League. There are no bad teams in the competition, especially in the knockout rounds. Barcelona romped into the quarterfinals by a 10-2 aggregate score thanks to Messi’s heroics.

The 24-year-old sent shockwaves amongst his peers — if you can call them that. It might just be that Messi has none.
