It’s no secret that kids really do say the darndest things, which is why Red Sox Small Talk promises to be special.

Red Sox Small Talk is a new segment for 2012 that will air during NESN’s Sox pregame coverage on Sundays throughout the season. It will involve young students asking Red Sox players questions about a variety of topics — some baseball-related, others completely random.

Students from Woodland Academy, Pope John Paul II Catholic Academy, Jordan Boys and Girls Club in Chelsea, Summer Street School and Gateway Charter School are providing the hard-hitting questions.

Kevin Youkilis was the first player to step up to the plate, answering questions that ranged from his typical breakfast to how he chose No. 20.

You can check out Youkilis’ appearance in the video above, and be sure to tune in to NESN’s Red Sox pregame coverage on Sundays to stay up to speed on Red Sox Small Talk.
