Red Sox Recall Andrew Miller to Provide Left-Handed Arm Out of Bullpen

BOSTON — The Red Sox are giving Andrew Miller another look.

After placing Aaron Cook on the disabled list on Sunday, the team elevated the lefty from Pawtucket. Miller, who has been recovering from a left hamstring injury since spring training, was on the end of his rehab stint.

Although the hamstring healed weeks ago, Miller was focused on logging innings after his abbreviated spring.

"I've gotten chances to warm up and sit down and warm up," Miller said. "I've gotten to warm up in the cold and the rain. I've thrown multiple innings, started innings, finished innings. All that stuff, it's been nice to work some of that stuff out and get used to it. All of it has gone pretty smoothly."

Miller made 10 appearances for the PawSox this season, tossing 11 innings and allowing four hits and seven runs while recording 23 strikeouts. He still endured control issues, walking 14 batters, but said he feels comfortable with his body of work.

"My stuff has been pretty good," Miller said. "I had those two outings early on. I think most of those guys can look at the stat sheet, and they're going to make me throw them two strikes before they do anything. I'd like to get earlier contact unless the situation dictates it. Outs are outs. I'll take them however I can get them."

In Pawtucket, Miller had a 5.73 ERA.
