Aaron Cook’s Few Mistakes Aren’t Missed by Athletics Hitters in Loss (Video)

My, how times have changed.

Years ago, the Oakland Athletics were known as one of the most patient teams in baseball, almost to the point of frustration. Their hitters were known for waiting out pitchers, often times taking strikes to see more pitches and work free passes. It was a philosophy that was apparent from the big league team on down through the minors.

Other teams, however, have picked up on the A's "moneyball" method over the years, and now players who hold high on-base percentages are no longer undervalued. And the A's have moved on according to Red Sox starter Aaron Cook, who called them one of the more "aggressive" teams in the league. In that vein, Cook only made a few mistakes up in the zone on the afternoon, but the A's anxious hitters did not miss them.

Watch the video above to hear Cook break down his start and what he was trying to do against the Oakland offense.
