The Red Sox will be without David Ortiz for the near future, though it's still unclear how long Boston's slugger will be out the lineup.

Ortiz, who injured his achilles rounding second base in Monday's game against the White Sox, spoke to the media on Tuesday, explaining that he is in pain and will seek a second opinion on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington expressed his relief over Ortiz' MRI results, which did not reveal a tear or rupture in the injured achilles.
