For years, Tim Wakefield and Jason Varitek were cornerstones of the Red Sox organization. Both retired this year after 17 and 15 seasons in Boston, respectively.

Varitek was honored at Fenway Park on Sunday in front of fans and former teammates. Wakefield -– who was honored earlier in the season –- shared an emotional moment with the former catcher when Varitek tossed out the ceremonial first pitch to Wakefield.

Wakefield reminisced about his time playing with The Captain, praising Varitek for his commitment to the team and the sport, and talking about the sacrifices he made to help his pitching staff be the best they could be.

Check out the video above to hear Wakefield reflect on his relationship with Varitek and what he meant to the team.
