Andre Santos Arrested for Doing Speed Racer Impression, Trying to Outrun Police

Last Friday, Andre Santos just couldn't wait to get to practice and prepare for the start of the 2012-13 Premier League season.

The Arsenal fullback was so excited, he drove his car as fast as 130 mph and tried to outrun the police while they chased him, according to the Mail.

"Shortly after 9.30 a.m. on Friday August 17, a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop for police on the A1, near to Junction 22 of the M25," a police spokesman said.

"Officers' attention was drawn to the vehicle due to the manner of its driving. The man has been bailed to return at a date in mid-September to a north London police station."

Santos was driving a luxury car — "believed to be a £110,000 ($174,500) Maserati GranTurismo" — on the highway when he caught the attention of police.

The authorites turned on their lights and sounded sirens, but Santos did not immediately stop. He was finally picked up after exiting off the highway and coming to stop close to Arsenal's practice facility in London Colney.

The 29-year-old was on the substitutes' bench in Saturday's scoreless draw with Sunderland.
