Ryan Lavarnway Will Start Behind the Plate, Bat Sixth Against David Phelps, Yankees

Ryan Lavarnway sat out the last three games after playing four in a row. He'll be back in there Saturday against David Phelps and the Yankees.

Lavarnway will bat sixth for the Red Sox, who have lost three of their last four, including Friday night's series opener. The 25-year-old enters Saturday's contest with a .125 average (9-for-39) in 17 games this season.

Nick Punto, who has seen a spike in playing time recently because of Will Middlebrooks' injury, will be back in the lineup on Saturday as well. He'll play third base, shifting Pedro Ciriaco back to shortstop, and round out the lineup in the No. 9 spot.

Cody Ross will once again serve as the DH, and Scott Podsednik will get another start in right field. They'll bat fifth and seventh, respectively.

The Yankees will counter with the same lineup they trotted out there Friday night when they picked up a 6-4 victory. They'll take their cuts against Jon Lester, who earned a win over the Indians while going six strong innings his last time out.
