Dustin Pedroia Will Rejoin Red Sox in Toronto, Team Glad That ‘Everybody is Doing Fine’

BOSTON — The Red Sox were without Dustin Pedroia on
Thursday night but for good reason.

Pedroia was busy welcoming a new addition to the family.
His wife, Kelli, delivered the couple's second child and the news certainly
brought a smile to everyone's face in the Red Sox clubhouse.

"I can tell you about Dustin is that we've heard
that everybody is doing fine, and that's really good news," Red Sox
manager Bobby Valentine said.

His absence was certainly noticeable during the 2-0 loss
against the Yankees. In the last five games, the second baseman provided the
offense a necessary jolt, ripping three home runs to go along with five RBIs.

Valentine, of course, understands that family comes
first.

"He's one of the best players in baseball,"
Valentine said. "There's a few of them that are out of that lineup. We
miss him. We hope he hurries back."

Pedroia will rejoin the team during the upcoming series
in Toronto, but Valentine isn't sure which day.
