Report: Maurice Jones-Drew to End Holdout, Join Jaguars on Sunday

Maurice Jones-Drew put up a valiant fight for a new contract this offseason, but it appears the Jacksonville running back has decided to fold his cards so he can play another season.

Jones-Drew will end his holdout and report to the Jaguars on Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Jones-Drew lobbied hard for a new contract throughout the offseason, arguing for his value to the Jaguars as other top-tier backs, Ray Rice and Matt Forte, locked up new deals with their teams. But Jacksonville owner Shad Khan stood firm, and with the opening week of the season approaching, Jones-Drew has elected to play rather than miss the games he is under contract for.

Jones-Drew has played in Jacksonville for six seasons, racking up 6,854 yards and 62 touchdowns on 4.6 yards a carry. He has had three straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons, including 1,606 yards last season, when he also had 374 receiving yards.
