Report: NFL to Review Bill Belichick’s Postgame Incident Involving Official

Bill Belichick
's wallet could take a hit, even if he doesn't want to believe it.

The NFL will review an incident that occurred following Sunday's game against the Ravens in which Belichick grabbed an official, according to NFL Network's Steve Wyche.

The incident in question took place after Ravens kicker Justin Tucker booted a game-winning field goal as time expired. The ball appeared to travel over the upright, which caused a visibly upset Belichick to run onto the field in the direction of an official, seemingly in search of answers. Field goals that go above the uprights are not reviewable, but Belichick wanted some sort of clarification, and his desire for such led to him grabbing the official amidst the postgame chaos.

Belichick said during his postgame news conference that he didn't expect to be fined for the incident, but according to NFL.com, the NFL warned teams this past week about their behavior toward replacement officials. That doesn't exactly bode well for Belichick as the league takes another look at what transpired.

The Patriots suddenly find themselves in unfamiliar territory at 1-2, and this whole Belichick situation is sure to capture headlines for a few days. Still, you can bet the head coach's focus has already turned to next week's opponent.

Update: Belichick is unlikely to be supsended, according to a report.
