Report: Tony Pena, DeMarlo Hale to Interview for Red Sox’ Managerial Job

A couple of familiar faces are expected to interview for the Red Sox' managerial gig this week.

According to WEEI.com, the Sox will interview Yankees bench coach Tony Pena and Orioles third base coach DeMarlo Hale.

Pena's interview is expected to take place on Monday, according to WBZ's Dan Roche, and Hale will reportedly interview at some other point this week. The two join Tim Wallach and Brad Ausmus on the team's list of managerial candidates, as Wallach reportedly interviewed for the job on Friday while Ausmus is expected to interview in the coming days.

Pena, who played for the Sox from 1990-1993, spent 18 seasons in the majors. He was named Manager of the Year in 2003 when he led the Royals to their first winning season in nine years.

Hale has an extensive minor league managerial background, but he's yet to manage at the big league level. He served as a third base coach and a bench coach with the Sox before leaving for Baltimore following the 2011 season. In 2010, he was believed to be one of the finalists for the Toronto Blue Jays' managerial post before the club hired John Farrell.
