Sweden Adds ‘Zlataner’ to Dictionary, Honoring Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Dominance on Soccer Field

Swedish fans can’t find enough ways to honor PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic after he had one of the best years of his career (and scored one of the best goals in soccer history).

The statues and awards have made way to the most unique addition to their “Ibra” shrine: adding him to the national dictionary.

Following the footsepts of a French television show, Les Guignois, whose characters are obsessive Ibrahimovic fans, Swedes have adapted the French word “zlataner,” to mean dominating on the soccer field.

Ibrahimovic has 18 goals this season with PSG, putting him on pace to break the Ligue 1 record for goals in a season.

As his wonder goal can attest he has also dominated with the national team, scoring 11 goals in 2012 in all competitions.
