Joel Hanrahan is no stranger to trade rumors, but it was still a bit of a surprise when the former Pittsburgh closer ended up in Boston this offseason. After all, the Red Sox already had two-time All-Star closer Andrew Bailey installed as their guy, despite some injury problems through 2012.

That obviously changed when the team dealt for Hanrahan, thus relegating Bailey to the set-up role and shaking up the Boston bullpen. However, as the new closer tells it, Bailey couldn’t have been a bigger help in welcoming his “replacement” (for lack of a better word) to the team.

Hanrahan appeared on Dennis and Callahan on Monday and spoke about his trade to the Sox and how he’s been getting acclimated so far. See more in the above video.
