Claude Julien Goes Off on Referees After Loss to Canadiens, Calls on NHL to Crack Down on Embellishing (Video)

Claude Julien was not happy on Sunday night.

After his team lost 4-3 to the Montreal Canadiens in a game filled with fights and 48 penalty minutes, the Bruins coach lashed out at the Habs and the referees in his postgame press conference.

Julien pointed to an uncalled cross-check on Tyler Seguin that led to Zdeno Chara fighting Alexi Emelin as one example of the refs’ ineptitude, then later called out P.K. Subban for embellishing while calling on the league to crack down on such actions.

“We’re trying to clean that out of our game, and it needs to be done soon,” Julien said. “It’s not about [Sunday]. It’s about the game and the embellishment embarrasses our game and we need to be better. It’s pretty obvious when P.K. gets hit and throws himself into the glass and holds his head. You know what? If we start calling those for embellishment, maybe teams stop doing it.”
