Korhan Ozturk Scores Goal-of-the-Year Contender, Celebrates Like It’s No Big Deal (Video)

There are simple mathematics behind most unplanned goal celebrations. The better the goal, the more energy and exuberance a player should put into the celebration. At least, that’s what we thought.

On March 3, Korhan Ozturk scored a goal that could win the Puskas Award (which FIFA gives to the scorer of the year’s best goal) in 2013. His sublime volley shined the spotlight onto Turkey’s second division and his club Altay S.K. — if only for a moment.

The goal was Ozturk’s third of the season, and it’s almost certain that the other two weren’t this good. We would have forgiven him if his celebration went over the top, but he chose the other extreme. As the ball was flying into the goal, he simply turned around and walked away as if he scores goals of this quality on a regular basis. The restraint he showed was pure comedic gold.

See Ozturk’s stunning strike and reaction in the video below.
