Jon “Bones” Jones came away with the UFC light heavyweight belt around his waist at UFC 159, but he didn’t walk — or limp — away unharmed.
Jones broke his toe in a gruesome injury during a first-round TKO victory over Chael Sonnen at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
“I looked down and saw blood,” Jones said, according to FoxSports.com. “The closer I looked, I saw that my toe was upside down. Maybe it’s not that serious of an injury. Who knows?”
The brother of Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones is now 18-1 in his MMA career. His only loss came in December 2009 to Matt Hamill by disqualification.
