Red Sox, Bruins Waiting for Guidance From Law Enforcement Before Deciding on Friday Night Games

Update: Friday night’s games have been postponed.

Much of Boston is waiting for law enforcement officials to tell them how to proceed, and the Red Sox and Bruins are no exception.

Both teams are scheduled to play around 7 p.m. Friday, but neither have moved to cancel their game or reaffirm that it will be held after much of the city and surrounding areas were shut down Friday morning.

The Red Sox said around 1 p.m. that they did not have an update.

Tuesday night’s Celtics game was canceled after Monday’s attacks at the Boston Marathon, and the Bruins returned to play at TD Garden on Wednesday.

Law enforcement officials have asked residents in Boston, Cambridge, Watertown, Somerville and other areas to remain in their homes Friday.
