Storylines Abound As Bruins Prepare to Take On East-Leading Penguins (Video)

The Bruins, who currently sit in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings, will host the conference-leading Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night at TD Garden. But playoff positioning is but a small part of what makes this matchup so compelling.

Along with perennial All-Stars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh’s offense has been further bolstered by the addition of Jarome Iginla, whom the Penguins swiped from under Boston’s nose at the trade deadline. After losing out on Iginla, the B’s picked up veteran winger Jaromir Jagr, who spent the bulk of his career wearing the black and gold in Pittsburgh.

The Bruins’ lineup will also be a bit different than what fans are used to as Carl Soderberg is expected to make his first start for the team and Milan Lucic may be a healthy scratch for Friday’s contest. Lucic has played in 41 of the team’s 42 games this year but has totaled just six goals and 18 assists.
