Yankees Turn 4-6-5-6-5-3-4 Triple Play Against Orioles in Eighth Inning (Video)

The Orioles were threatening against the Yankees in the top of the eighth inning Friday, but some slick fielding and poor running put an end to that.

With two on and nobody out, Manny Machado grounded to second baseman Robinson Cano, who threw to second base to record a force out. Then, shortstop Jason Nix threw to third base, where Kevin Youkilis caught Alexi Casilla in a rundown. Casilla was tagged out and all the while, Machado was trying to advance to second. He was then caught in a rundown and tagged out for the third out.

In the end, the scorebook reads 4-6-5-6-5-3-4 on the triple play. The last triple play the Yankees turned came in 2010 against the A’s, and their last one at home came way back in 1968.
