Donte Stallworth Cleared to Resume NFL Career After Hot Air Balloon Accident, Patriots Could Have Interest

Donte Stallworth is ready to return to football.

A little over two months after suffering severe injuries in a hot air balloon crash, Stallworth has been fully cleared to return to football activities, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Stallworth said that he “felt death approaching” during the immediate aftermath of the hot air balloon accident, but fortunately he’s made a full recovery and is getting back to football.

Stallworth, 32, is a 10-year NFL veteran and spent part of the 2012 season with the Patriots. He played in only one game with the Pats, catching one pass for a 63-yard touchdown, before going on season-ending injured reserved. He has 321 career catches over 4,800 yards and 35 touchdowns.

The Patriots already have a full load of wide recievers on their roster, but with so much turnover at the position from years past, Stallworth could be a valuable asset, even if only in training camp. The Patriots do seem to like Stallworth’s leadership and general attitude, which makes it even more likely that he could be back with the team at some point this offseason.
