Minimizing Damage Becomes Big Priority Early As Red Sox, Rays Battle in High-Scoring Affair (Video)

John Lackey has shown a tendency to give up the long ball in his last few starts. Luckily, the Red Sox were intent on bringing some offense of their own on Monday night.

A six-run first inning staked Lackey to an early lead against the Rays in this one, but he didn’t have the full six runs to work with for very long. A leadoff home run for the Rays in the bottom of the first greeted the Red Sox’ right-hander to The Trop, but he’s done well minimizing the damage for most of Monday night. Unfortunately, he’s not the only one.
