Red Sox Show Confidence in Jose De La Torre As Closer ‘Felt Good’ in Relief Outing (Video)


After a late night in a 14-inning win on Monday, the Red Sox bullpen was thin on Tuesday against the Rays.

Jose De La Torre was called up for reinforcement from Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday and went for 3 1/3 innings to close out the Sox’ 8-3 loss. De La Torre retired the side on nine pitches in the sixth inning and returned to the dugout to words of encouragement from manager John Farrell.
