Yoenis Cespedes’ Home Run Derby Victory Draws Challenge From Jose Canseco

Jose Canseco isn’t going to let his Oakland Athletics home run-hitting legacy be supplanted by just anyone.

A’s outfielder Yoenis Cespedes was at the center of the spotlight Monday night when he swatted his way to the Home Run Derby crown. While that meant many slaps on the back and well wishes from supporters, former A’s bash brother Canseco had something else in mind when he jumped on Twitter.

It looks like Canseco wasn’t trying to detract from Cespedes’ big moment, though — the invitation was apparently a continuation of an idea Canseco had been cooking up all night. Canseco, who has continued to show interest in playing baseball despite his age and admitted steroid use during his MLB career, sounds like he’s ready for a derby with just about anyone.

Come to think of it, Cespedes, Canseco and Tony La Russa all in a park together would be fun.
