Alex Rodriguez Told to ‘Just Go’ by New York Post As Steroid Suspension Looms Monday (Photo)

Tabloids are known for channeling populist rage. The New York Post is no exception.

The NYC rag prepared for a likely Alex Rodriguez suspension Monday with a close-up of the disgraced Yankees star’s face, slapping a “Just Go” headline over his troubled mug and saying fans want Rodriguez to accept punishment from Major League Baseball and quit the game.

Rumors have swirled around Rodriguez for months, and a suspension is expected to finally come Monday. While a lifetime ban has been talked about, most recent reports indicate that Rodriguez will be suspended for 214 games — the rest of this season and all of next. Rodriguez has been implicated in the Biogenesis scandal, with more than 20 MLB players expected to be suspended for their connection to performance-enhancing drug use.

A suspension isn’t the only thing dogging Rodriguez, though. He’s battled the accusations and was said to be trying to negotiate with MLB to get a different settlement. He’s also faced the wrath of the Yankees as he’s tried to come back to the game, with the team appearing to withdraw its support for the embattled star. Baseball fans, many of whom haven’t liked Rodriguez for some time, are also increasingly against the slugger’s return to the game.

Rodriguez has tried a lot of things that haven’t worked so far. If he’s looking for more advice, the New York Post is ready.
