Ryan Dempster Says He Was ‘Excited’ to Pitch, Get Win in First Game Back From Suspension (Video)

Ryan Dempster had plenty of time to rest up before Friday’s game against the White Sox.

The right-hander had 11 days off after he was suspended five games by MLB for hitting Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez with a pitch earlier in the month. The Red Sox pushed Dempster’s next start back even further, and the rest seems to have done him some good.

Dempster pitched 6 1/3 innings Friday night, giving up three earned runs on five hits while striking out five.

Hear what Dempster had to say after the game in the above video.
