Lions Safety Louis Delmas Fined $5,000 for Wearing Wrong Color Socks

The NFL dished out over $200,000 in fines this week, including one for a wardrobe malfunction.

Detroit Lions safety Louis Delmas was fined $5,250 this week for wearing the wrong color socks, according to MLive.com. Delmas wore black and blue socks during last Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, which apparently was in discordance with the league’s standardized attire for the Lions. The NFL requires Lions players to wear only white and blue or solid blue socks during games, according to Pro Football Talk.

Delmas acknowledged the fine to reporters on Friday, saying he didn’t find out about it until he got his weekly check. He also said that he wasn’t told of any fashion error by the team’s equipment staff before or during the game.

Yet another case of the NFL living up to its “no fun league” reputation.
