Report: Andrew Bynum Says He Is on Schedule to Return, Has ‘No Idea’ What That Schedule Is

Andrew Bynum, whose ability to say one thing and mean exactly the opposite rivals that of any person in sports, never fails to disappoint.

In an exclusive interview with the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, Bynum said he is “where he should be” in his rehabilitation schedule from dual knee surgery in March, even though he has “no idea” what that schedule actually is.

Pause for effect …

Yes, Bynum believes he is on track to play for the Cavaliers this season after not playing a minute last season for the Sixers. He just has no idea where that track is going, when it will get him to his destination or what obstacles he might hit along the way. Evidently, his rehab is being run by Amtrak.

“It’s a fluid process,” Bynum told Mary Schmitt Boyer. “I have no idea what the schedule’s going to be for me. But I’m doing everything I can to be ready. I think with the program that has been made up, we have a good chance.

“I’m optimistic I’m where I should be. Obviously, I want to be playing. But I’m taking baby steps, doing what the team and the doctors tell me. I’m doing my part. I come to work every day. I’m moving in the right direction.”

Bynum reportedly works out for three hours a day, six days a week, which isn’t all that much if you think about it. His body weight is down to 292 pounds, and he is apparently “punishing” the workout machines at the Cavs’ workout facility, which is good. We wouldn’t want the Sixers’ entire 2012-13 season to be the only things Bynum has punished recently.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

Bynum has not been cleared for full-court activities, but he has been working out with Vitaly Potapenko, so there’s that.
