Todd Helton‘s 17-year major league career is short in comparison to Vin Scully‘s 64 years behind the microphone. But it was still a memorable ride for Helton and those who got to know the Rockies first baseman.

Helton played the final game of his big league career Sunday in Los Angeles. The 40-year-old will now ride off into the sunset after a very successful journey that included five All-Star selections, three Gold Gloves and a lifetime .316 batting average. But before Helton took the field for his last hurrah, Scully and the Dodgers took a moment to honor one of the game’s consummate professionals.

Scully narrated the following video tribute that was played at Dodger Stadium.
