President Obama Shows Excitement for Derrick Rose’s Return, Welcomes Him Back in Tweet

Derrick Rose‘s long-awaited return to the hardwood made Oct. 29 feel more like Christmas in Chicago, and even the President of the United States was celebrating the invented holiday.

Barack Obama took to Twitter prior to the Bulls-Heat tip-off to welcome back the Chicago superstar. After a year-and-a-half of being sidelined while recovering from a knee injury that the former MVP suffered in 2012, the point guard is back, taking on the reigning back-to-back champions and getting a nice shout-out from the leader of the free world while he’s at it.

A former member of the Illinois senate, Obama’s allegiances to Chicago sports teams are no secret, but after hosting LeBron James and Co. two years in a row at the White House, his tweet suggests that he wouldn’t mind some new guests — say, maybe from the Windy City — to stop by D.C.
