Red Sox’ Oct. 2 Workout at Fenway Park Open to Season Ticket Holders, Children, Students, Neighbors

The Red Sox are preparing for a postseason run, and they’re asking fans to join them for one last-minute tuneup before the playoffs kick off.

On Wednesday, the Sox are scheduled to work out at 2 p.m. ET at Fenway Park, and the team is inviting the public to attend, free of charge, to watch the 2013 AL East champs take some swings, field some grounders and haul in some pop-ups as part of a simulated game. Jake Peavy and Clay Buchholz are scheduled to pitch.

Concession stands will be open, and no tickets are required. Fans can enter Fenway Park at Gate D starting at 2 p.m., and the workout is expected to last until 5 or 6 p.m.

“Inviting members of the Red Sox family — our season ticket holders, area students, children and neighbors — to Fenway Park for this opportunity is a small way for us to thank them for their support this season,” Red Sox president and CEO Larry Lucchino said.  “This is a special time and a special team, and we hope some in our community will be able to see our players in this casual, informal workout setting.”

Face painters (specializing in beards), balloon artists and Fenway’s very own stilt-walker Big League Brian will be in attendance, as well.
