SMU’s Garrett Gilbert Completes Unbelievable Two-Point Conversion to Force Overtime (Video)

Southern Methodist University lost in heartbreaking fashion on Saturday afternoon to Rutgers, but even so, Mustangs quarterback Garrett Gilbert came away with the play of the game.

After finding themselves down 35-14 in the beginning of the fourth quarter, SMU stormed back to put up 21 unanswered points and send the game into overtime. The Mustangs were forced to attempt a two-point conversion to knot up the score at 35 because of a missed extra point earlier in the quarter, and the result was spectacular.

Gilbert looked to be in serious trouble, scrambling after the snap with no open receivers in sight. The signal caller eventually made his way to the right side of the field when he heaved an opposite-field pass to Jeremy Johnson to force overtime.
