Johnny Boychuk isn’t interested in paying the piper.
Boychuk unleashed an awesome fit of rage on Tuesday night against the Stars and put two members of the Dallas hockey club flat on the TD Garden ice in a span of about five seconds.
It started when Erik Cole thought it was a good idea to break the puck out of his zone with his head down. Boychuk pinched in and absolutely popped Cole — sending his stick flying in the process. The hit was clean, but in today’s unwritten hockey rule book, even clean hits don’t go unpunished so Cole’s teammate, Vernon Fiddler, stepped in to make Boychuk pay for his actions — or so he thought.
Boychuk, with Cole staggering to his feet just behind him, saw Fiddler coming, flung off his mitts and tackled the centerman to the ice before Fiddler could even get his own gloves off.
