Todd Jones Says He Doesn’t Deserve Hall of Fame Votes, Would Only Be Let Into Cooperstown to ‘Use the Bathroom’

Todd Jones may not believe he is worthy of being inducted into the Hall of the Fame, but his sense of humor is certainly deserving of some sort of recognition.

The former relief pitcher made it onto the ballot for the first time this year, but surrounded by names like Greg Maddux and Frank Thomas, the man who earned the nickname “Roller Coaster” knows he doesn’t exactly belong alongside the elite company — despite amassing more than 300 saves in his 16-year career.

Jones responded to his candidacy by essentially saying “thanks, but no thanks, Cooperstown,” admitting that he understands he isn’t deserving of any votes and adding that using the restroom is the only way he would be allowed into the Hall of Fame.

Check out the rest of Jones’ statement, which was passed  along by ESPN’s Jayson Stark, in the tweets below.
